Is the inconvenience of having to go back and get what you actually ordered tiresome and upsetting?

It seems like such a simple process. Why do they mess up my order so often? It kind of puts me off fast food.

Everytime I go to McDonald's I have that problem. It's very upsetting to me. I'll ask for a McChicken and I'll get a Double Cheeseburger that was wrapped in a McChicken wrapper. I'll ask for a large fry, I get a small. I'll ask for a large coke, they give me a small Hi-C orange. I never get the condiments I ask for, and when they dropped my straw, they picked the same one up and put it in the bag. To me that's just disgusting!

Everytime I go in there and tell them my food was wrong, they give me this dirty look like I am the plague. I ask them to replace everything with hot and fresh food. They give me cold food, and STILL get the sandwich wrong. I called the corporate number and complained. I got $30 worth of vouchers.

They mess up the orders so often because, to me, they don't care. The employees are never nice, always rude, and act like they always have somewhere else to be. It's bad for the companies image.

OK, I'll tell you why it's so often messed up:
-the driv-thru speaker system is generally really bad, and makes it very difficult to hear the customer
-a lot of employees honestly don't care if your order is right or not
-proper protocol isn't always followed to ensure the right order

so basically, it's a combination of poor equipment and unmotivated employees. I worked at Micky D's for 1 1/2 years, so I know what I'm talking about!! I agree, it does seem simple and shouldn't be messed up so much!
BTW, if your order is so messed up, why don't you check it before you leave, or pull up and check it if you don't want to hold up the drive-thru. It takes about 5 second and if you're orders wrong, you only have to go about 10 feet back to the store to get it fixed. I honestly don't understand it when people yell at me because they had to come all the way back from their house. I understand that it's bad that they had to come back, I'd be annoyed too. but it's not the employee's/store's fault if the customer waits until they get home to check!

Oh, and "notbusy", ummm...when you get handed the next order, it's almost always because someone in the line didn't order at the proper place or because someone left the line after ordering. And i find it offensive that you imply that fast food employees are stupid. If you had to work in the unorganized chaos and faulty equipment that so many stores have, you'd probably act the same way!

I don't eat fast food often. However, the times I've been there I would say about 25% of the time something has been wrong. That 's why I don't leave the drive thru window until I check and make sure that I got what I ordered.

If it puts you off fast food than that's surely a good thing? But to be honest, i know what you mean, it has happened to me quite a few times in the past.

I think most of the time its teenagers working at these places and chances are they have probably just been abused by some irate customer, so i don't think its a big deal really.

Just try to check your order before leaving the restaurant next time.

Pretty much everytime I go. I can tell you why they mess up orders. A. The people that work there just don't care. B. The majority of the people who work there aren't usually the sharpest knives in the drawer. It's unfortunate but some of them just can't get better jobs.
I think the thing that's putting me off of fast food now is the fact it's all become so disgusting. It's like these places don't care anymore. I can cook, so I cook my own eats.

This has happen to me a couple of times and it is raelly annoying. They are swamp or the person who is supposed to put the food in the little baggy are not paying attention and skip one or two things. I hate having to drive out and get my food fix, especially when it's more then $5 difference.

You would think it is simple enough to check the food before putting it in the bag, I guess it's too hard for some people. Especially at Wendy's in Stockton, CA

I'm so glad someone thought of asking this.

You are right, it's so simple.

I was at a fast food place about a month ago.
I ordered a combo: burger, fries, and drink.
When I got home, I had a small hamburger, pie, and small fry with a toy!
And no napkins!

Like you, I hear of others saying how they never get what they ordered.
It can turn you away from fast food.

One thing I do is, after I order, I ask them to repeat my order.
It seems to help alot.

It's fast food, they're trying to get it to you as fast as they can, and haste makes waste. Check your order at the window b4 driving off, if it'll hold up the next person for extra 30 sec so what.

You know that happened to me yesterday!!!! Went to Wendy's drivethru and ordered, pulled up to check if everything was there and found the NEXT order. NOT mine. Of course then you have to go all the way around again to have some stupid kid ask you what you ordered all over again. HINT: try subway or Quiznos
