It is not a silver eagle coin from the U.S. mint. It is called a silver round and is actually a silver medal. It would be worth 10 to 15% less than silver spot price on the day you sell it. Most all coin dealers can give you the price of silver for the day. They get it by computer. Dealers do not sell or buy at the spot price of silver but use it and add a percentage to make a profit as well as pay less so they can resell it at more of a profit. unless you need the money it would be wise to hold onto it and wait for silver to go up more in value.

I would assume that it would be at least the value of the silver in it.

Without seeing pictures it's very difficult for anyone to give you a good answer. A lot depends on the condition of your coin.

1 - Take your coin to a local coin dealer (trustworthy ones can be found - shop around, get second opinions). It never hurts to get a second opinion. They will be able to tell you so much more by evaluation the condition of the coin. They will also know the amount minted and what it is going for in today's market.

2 - Try posting pictures on this website (there are many experts here that can help you evaluate it - there also may be people willing to buy if you are trying to sell):

3 - Repost this question and include pictures. You can use websites like photobucket.com and include the link in your question.

Good luck!

P.S. Do not clean your coin as this can drastically reduce the value.

It sounds like a bullion coin which means it is valued based on the current price of silver. I think silver is around $12.30 per ounce.
