36A = This means 36" around the ribcage below the breasts and an A cup.

Basically, the # dictates the band around and the letter dictates the cup size. AA is the smallest and then A, B, C, D, E, and I don't know exactly how far it goes, but I suppose it could go on forever!

Get yourself a measuring tape; measure from directly under your breast all the way around and write down this number. Then just go to the store and try on a ___A or ___B or whatever cup size you are. Good luck and if this doesn't work for you, try asking some trusted friends or family members for help/ advice. Good luck!

I heard a couple of girls talking about this very thing in my local bar a couple of nights ago.
I went over and explained I was an expert, they didnt belive me at first, but I explained I didnt need a measure and I bet them a dollar that just by feeling them here there and everywhere I could give them all the exact measurements they would need !!!!
They accepted the bet, I went to work on both of them!
After about 10 minutes I put my dollar on the bar and said "Ok, I give up, you win"! And I beat a fast retreat.
Best dollar I ever spent.

Go to your local dept. store.. Macy's, Dillard's, JC Penny's and get a bra fitting it's free and it's nothing to be worried about then try on several brands of bras in that size have the specialist help you decide on what bras fit you best and where a bra should "lay" on you... Good luck

PS. Victoria's Secret's bras are junk and don't last... Save your money and get some good foundation/garments..

If you go to Marks & Spencers - they have specially trained ladies to fit your bra properly - you don't need to take your own off - they wait outside while they bring various sizes for you to
take your time and to try them in comfort, in my opinion, the ladies are very good at the job and they do not put you under any pressure to buy. You feel much better when you have the right size and it's also a little "confidence" booster.

Good Luck hunni bunch........xxx

you can measure yourself but I've forgotten how you work out your cup size, like the previous posters above me I recommend you go to a lingerie shop and asked to be measured up. Wearing the right size bra is so important because an ill-fitting bra is such a bad look!

Unless you're buying a bra online, the store can measure you and tell you exactly what your size is. if you go to victoriassecret.com they also have a chart and direction on how to find your own size and they explain everything there.

J.C penny also does bra fittings. You should have them done like yearly also because with weight gain or loss or pregnancy your body changes and so will your size.

Do you have a department store like Macy's around where you can go and have a sales woman measure you? That's the best way. That's where my mother took me.
