5 answers

y=2x+7
y=3x+2

Substitute the value of y from the first equation into the second equation.

2x+7=3x+2
3x-2x=7-2
x=5

Substitute the value of x again into an equation.
y=2x+7
y=2(5)+7
y=10+7
y=17

So, 2x + 7 = 3x + 2

Well, plug in some guesses til it adds up

x = 2....11, 8 no
x=3...13, 11 no, getting closer

x=5...17, 17..YES! X=5 :)

3x = y - 2

x = y - 2/ 3

y = 2 ( y - 2 / 3) + 7

y = ?

y = 2y/3 - 4 / 3 + 7

y - 2/3 y = 17 / 3

1/3 y = 17 / 3

y = 17
