Close relatives of mine have encountered incredible problems in these last couple of years here in Florida, especially in last six months. It's made me wonder how many others are going through same thing probably in all parts of the USA. I am extra concerned because some of them are senior citizens, some have lost home to foreclosure and to apparent illegal practice by mortgage lenders, etc. Unfortunately one of them has almost being homeless, and is now facing problems w/ utility company. I myself have tried to help in any and all ways possible, encountering a lot of bureaucracy in every government agency I've gone to. The problems my relatives are experiencing may seem slight to anyone not familiar with such a situation, but to me, who am always close by, know it is exrtremely difficult for them in all aspects. I know how government agencies work. That even when social workers care and want to help, they just can't because their hands are tied up. Any groups for people like this?

There are groups - depending on the particular problem.

I truly understand what you are speaking of. You get a home loan (ARM) and soon cannot afford the payments. The government says they are trying to help but I have my doubts. Once you miss a payment, your credit does not allow you to refinance at a lower fixed rate. The banks and loan companies are complaining but, couldn't these "brains" have seen what their schemes were going to cause at a later date? I really don't know of any agency that will help.

Try this link, it is the Consumer Affairs direct contact number for the state of Florida. They would be the one to report the illegal activity to. They may also be able to help you find the right person to help. Good luck, I'll be praying for you!
