Legally speaking (if you wish an actual/straight-up answer), it would not be a "true" hostage situation - the other personalities have no legal basis and I do not believe that the law considers one threatening suicide to be both kidnapper and hostage.

If you accept each of the personalities as valid then I suppose it could be a hostage situation....

Wow what a buncha crackers : ) gotta admit that is a good question tho....I was just discussing what a tragedy it is nowadays that kids have to grow up in such a messed up world...there is no way that I would ever make it in the world if I had to grow up again...although they do know alot more today than they did oh say 30 years ago.....30 years ago they would probly just say lock the guy up if he threatens to kill himself...now theyd probly say give him a antipsychotic or some durg like prozac or valium or the modern version of these drugs and then dump them back on the streets and call him "OK" thanks to the "Great Leaders" of this country today...especially in OREGON We Got More and More "LOONY" OR "Mentally challanged" people on the streets due to the bad choices that the "state" has made...the people most affected by it are the people that have helped to make this country...so to speak...the elderly, the veterans, the disabled due to bieng elderly or veterans...well hope that answers adequate enough for you : )

Yes and no
taking some one hostage means holding them against their will. If the hostage taker kills him self
this would be suicide
homicide if the person is the victim
murder suicide if he kills the victim them himself
although multiple personalities may or may not play a role.

Well if he killed himself its not like he can get convicted for holding people hostage.

Maybe when he says he's trying to kill himself, he's really trying to just kill off his one personality, so he has less to deal with. Saying "I'm going to kill myself" could be a metaphor, and he's really trying to get rid of one of his personalities.

If you shoot a mime, should you use a silencer?

If you're driving a hearse with a casket in the back, can you use the carpool lane?

When they asked George Washington for his ID, did he just take out a quarter?
