One day I was watching TV and the TV just cut off. The TV and the cable box and 2 lamps that are in the living room also. All except the Tv and the cable box are plugged up in seperate plugs and sockets. Nothing else went off in the house and i went and reset the breaker and it never came back on. I went and replaced the plugs and still nothing. What could be wrong and what can i do about it. And last week i had some cable installed and i have never had this problem before. Is there hope without a electrican?

Did the breaker trip? Did you turn the breaker all the way off before resetting it? Did it trip again? Unplug everything that doesn't work and then reset the circuit breaker again. Be sure to turn it off before resetting it. If it stays reset, plug in one thing at a time until it trips again. If it trips before plugging things back in, call back the cable installers or an electrician.

For Pete's (whoever he is:]) sake! Call the Cable guy it must be a Jim Carey type from the movie!! He has done something wrong in the wiring or forgot to rewire something of that order, call the company. Good luck.

Plug something else, like a small lamp, into the plugs that don't seem to be working. If the lamp lights, the outlets are OK.

you hava a broken wire inside your wall someplace, call an electrician if he's any good, he can find it for you. I had a wire break on me, i STILL havent fixed it yet though, because im lazy..lol thats aboout it, unless the breaker is bad but a qualified electrician will tell you if it is or not.

You can get an inexpensive tester at Home Depot and test the outlet to see whether you're getting electricity there. Sometimes the actual outlet is worn from constant plugging in and unplugging...and you just might need to replace the outlet. It is cheap and if you're handy you could do it yourself. remember if you decide to replace the outlet yourself...shut the power off first.....we want to see you back here!

Call the cable company first. If they cannot fix it, call an electrician.

probably not. It sounds like your wires were fried. This happened in one of my houses. The electrician had to come and replace all the wire in the circuit.

SOMETIMES OUTLETS HAVE BUILT IN BREAKERS....LOOK FOR A SMALL SWITCH IN THE CENTER OF THE OUTLET AND IF YOU FIND ONE THERE PUSH IT TO THE OTHER SIDE OF WHERE YOU FIND IT....OTHERWISE YOU WILL NEED AN ELECTRICIAN
