Meaning can I just take my regular centrum vitamin every day along w/ a folic acid supplement rather than prenatal vitamins?

Everyday I drink a boost and take my centrum, folic acid, & vitamin E...are all of these things safe to continue once I get pregnant?

I'm asking this because I can't swallow large pills so my regular vitamin is chewable and the folic acid is a small pill.

I know they make chewable prenatal vitamins but I have never found them in a store.

Any vitamin is better than no vitamin. Many women get sick from their prenatal vitamins and can't take them (mainly due to the increased iron in the vitamin). The two most important things are to get calcium (the baby will leech calcium from your bones so it's best to take a supplement to keep yourself healthy) and folic acid, which it sounds like you're doing!

No, you are only suppose to be taking your prenatal vitamin.
You can actually get an overdose if you have too much iron intake.

Ask your OB for a a chewable vitamin.

I'm not sure but I think it's better to take just prenatal because I don't think it's that ok to have a vitamin overdose.

i would take prenatal vitamins. they have everything that a pregnant body needs. talk to your doctor about taking extra doses of vitamins. sometimes it is possible to "overdose" on vitamins.

Nope. You only need one vitamin and that is any prenatal vitamin. This will have all the vitamins, minerals and nutrients you and your baby needs.

dI also couldn't stomach my prenatal, so my Doctor told me to take 2 Flintstones (one in the morning and one at night). She also wanted me to take a DHA supplement with them (Expecta).
