Serious? I have a personal protection handgun and with all the time I spend in underdeveloped countries or even locally out in the country exploring offbeat sites,I'm never without it. I got it when I worked for the Parole Division years ago and it's prevented many situations from developing into one of extreme danger. I have only used it pre-emptively. It's never been fired, except at a practice range.

I'm surprised nobody said the obvious... Luggage!

Luggage aside. For me-

Toothbrush
My silk broomstick skirt in black( it's a crinkle fabric so you crush it up and toss it in the case)
A black silk tank to go with the skirt
Black "Ballet Slipper" type flats (a go with anything comfy shoe)
Jeans
T-shirts
2 forms of ID
credit cards
