MS Windows XP (at least the professional version) and newer have remote desktop capabilities. Check under Start->Programs->Accessories->Communication->Remote Desktop Client. If you have admin rights on the other systems, you shouldn't need to alter any default configurations on the client systems.

You could also install VNC, but realize VNC isn't the most secure application.

Use the remote desktop program built into WinXP Pro. Open it by typing mstsc into the run box.

In the entry box for computer, you can call out the computer you want to connect to by IP Address or Network ID followed by :3389 <--- default port for remote desktop.

Example:

192.168.2.3:3389
or
MAINSYSTEM:3389
