Gland cells which empty digestive enzymes into the stomach and macrophage cells of the immune system. Lysosomes are vacoules containing digestive enzymes. In the stomach, they are used outside the cell to digest food in the stomach. In the immune system, the lysosomes are used inside the cell to break down foriegn material the macrophages have engulfed.

All cells have lysosomes and can use them to self destruct. Special immune cells can trigger the self destruct mechanism in a cell if it is defective or infected. This makes it easy for the macrophages to clean up the debris when the defective cell ruptures. However, if cells begin to rupture all at once, the macrophages are overwhelmed. Lysosomes can spill out and damage large numbers of healthy cells. This is what causes an inflamation responce.
