Nonoxynol-9 is not only for spermicide. Nonoxynol-9 is sometimes included in shaving creams for its properties as a nonionic surfactant; it helps break down skin oils that normally protect hair from moisture, so that they become wet and, hence, softer and easier to shave. Gillette formerly used nonoxynol-9 for this purpose in its Foamy products, but has discontinued the practice. They are finding that some people are allergic to it and that there are better alternatives to use besides the nonoxynol-9. But, to answer your question like I said it helps break down skin oils and makes skin softer and easier to shave. I hope this helps and have a good day.

Nonoxynols are used as non-ionic surface active agents, acting as surfactants in numerous cosmetic products and antiseptic preparations. Furthermore, Nonoxynol -9 and -10 are also commonly used in spermicidal contraceptive products.

Now I'm going to have to look at bath fizzers before I buy them. That is just weird.
