I was in Barcelona 2 summers ago. You don't provide much details as to what kind of spender you are. If you are a big shopper, Barcelona has tons of shops so you might want to bring a lot of money. If you're just a normal tourist, not looking for anything to fancy to eat, not looking to buy much other than some little souvenir like a t-shirt or something, and seeing a few tourist spots a day, I would guess about ~50 euros a day and you'll be fine. I recommend if you're trying to see as much of the city as you can, that you buy the city double decker bus tour ride. these buses circle the city stopping at every major location and you get on and off whenever you want. I believe a pass was something like ~20 euros for the day when I was there. Also bring more money if you plan you're a big drinker because the nightlife is fun. Also bring more money if you're a gambler b/c they have a decent casino by the Olympic Village

First, read all the other answers and their references they're very good. But then realize that when you are in Barcelona, you are in the restaurant equivalent of religions' Rome, Mecca, and Lhasa all roll into one. Spend whatever you can afford then - double it ! triple it! Search for molecular food, deconstructionist, any thing from the disciples of Adrian Ferran. You MUST have at least one 100 euro meal at a restaurant in the reference below, 200 if possible. When you go ask for the tasting menu -- fixed price, multiple courses (seven to ten) each with more components.

I have been to Barcelona last year. It is one of the biggest commercial and financial centre of Spain,so the living cost is more expensive than other cities of Spain. An average price for a meal is about 15 euro. 1000 euro is enough I think if you don't go any crazy shopping!
