I know this may be a stupid question but what is the slope of the derivative of y= x+ sqrt(x)

Slope itself means the derivative and so slope of the derivative means the second degree differential.

dy/dx = 1 + 1/2 x^-1/2

d^2y/dx^2 = 0 + 1/2 ( - 1/2) x^-3/2

= -1/4 x^-3/2
