When most people think of God, they think of Him in His glory in heaven. So, the question, "Is God male" usually refers to God as He exists in heaven. The Bible always refers to God using male pronouns. Does this mean that God is physically male? In other words, does God have male sexual organs? Surprisingly, the Bible does address this question indirectly, through a number of different statements about the nature of God and what He is like. Jesus said that God is "spirit."8 Although not defined extensively in the Bible, a spirit is an entity that has no physical body. After His resurrection, Jesus told His disciples that He had returned in bodily form, saying, "a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see that I have."9 If God is a spirit as the Bible says, and a spirit has no flesh or bones, then God cannot be male in physical form. God is not male, since He is not a physical, but a spiritual, being.

God is referred to as The Father. Emphasis = male - however, the Bible also tells us that there is neither male nor female in heaven, not Jew nor Greek, that we will all be the same. So when God is referred to as Father, I would say it means in a spiritual sense - ie he has all the attributes that a father would - loving, protective, etc. I do not believe there is genitalia in heaven.

Since christians love to carry on about adam and eve , Im glad you brought this up . It says in genesis , man was created in Gods image . then it says - male and female created he them . hmm . kinda freaky , right ? also in the same narrative of the world being created , in another sentence , God is referred to as " them " pretty bizarre , right ? do some research into original translations of this stuff it gets deeper . Turns out Jehovah , who spends alot of time in the old testament saying its all about Him , was originally part of a pair . Yep , the asherah was his girlfriend Goddess in the canaanite desert , who He later pretended He didnt know . Of course the born agains hate discussing these embarassing details .

I don't believe god to be human or possess human characteristics. I don't believe in "God" period. But if I did..I would think it would be more like an inanimate presence..like a ghost or spirit. I don't think it would have a defined gender.

I seriously doubt that God has any need for anything physical. I would not think that God was either Male or Female... to make him/her/it a sex would be taking a lot upon ourselve. "made.... in his image" is a very arrogant statement, let's face it!

I vote for "anything." In this way both genders (and those in transition) can find something in common with God.

I don't believe that God has a gender. If you presume God to be non-physical, there's no need for one, after all.
