Has your accent been butchered by an actor/actress, which is the worst accent you have ever heard an actor attempt, name and shame them here people!
First off, I nominate Leo in "Blood Diamond ", for that accent.
Also ,what really sucked :One scene he has an accent, and another, he doesn't.

I nominate the "Germans" in The Big Lebowski, especially Peter Stormare, when they're ordering their lingonberry pancakes. Man, I've lived in Germany, and these guys sure haven't, they sound enormously fake.

First of all I would have to disagree with you on Leonardo DiCaprio's accent, I watched that movie last night and I think he did a great job. I knew a guy who was south african and that was how he spoke. Second, Gerard Butler was the actor who played King Leonidas and he really is scottish so it's not fake.
I would have to nominate Heath Ledger in Ned Kelly for worst accent. He had an awful irish accent, so bad that I didn't even watch it all the way through to the end.

Kirsten Dunst in Elizabethtown... she's from somewhere in the South but only has an accent for about the first ten minutes of the film. I think it comes back towards the end. Love the movie and her but if you're going to do an accent... do the accent!

As bad as Leonardo's accent was in "Blood Diamond" - it was NOTHING compared to three months of listening to Kevin Costner butcher his attempt at an accent in "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" -- I worked with the post-production sound crew & had to TRY to match up his dialogue tracks with some consistency ... and we just had to give up after a while.

Most films based in Louisiana have poor accents. The one that comes to mind is Sean Penn in All the King's Men.

I agree with you on Leo, but it goes to Tom Cruise in Far and Away. I was visiting in Ireland when it was released and the Irish were making fun of the yank with the bad accent.

Tahini already mentioned Peter Stormare. His accent in Prison Break also didn't sound that convincing. I like him as an actor, though. This guy's appearance scares the s..t out of me.

I agree with Jodie Foster and Kevin Costner, but I have to add that Carrie Fisher started out with one in SW:IV and didn't have it by the time episode 5 and 6 came along. Come to think of it, it was gone by the time they found ObiWan.
Yikes.
