You could ask at your local town hall or look in the yellow pages at the front or back they usually have phone numbers for various charities in your area. Well done not everyone is generous enough to use their spare time helping others for free

Your best bet is to help organizations that help the homeless. See if there is a Salvation Army in your area. Also, you could knit or crochet scarves and hats to distribute to them for when it's cold. Also, if you're of voting age find out what candidates are running for local office in your area next year and ask them how they would help the homeless.

Errr find out why they're homeless? Most genuine homeless are that way by choice. They have chosen a life with few responsibilities. Given today's society who can blame them? Is all well and good to want to help the less fortunate but they must want to be helped! Those that choose to "opt out" of society will not take kindly to intervention. Many of the others are there because of their chosen lifestyle eg. drink, drugs, prostitution. They must come to their own realisation that this is not the life they wish to pursue anymore, and will seek help elsewhere. I suggest you give your time to charitable organisations, get out on the streets, ask why these people have come to this. Therein lies the solution! Man's inhumanity to man can not be cured by "signing up" to anything!

Make a donation to your local shelter or volunteer your time to a soup kitchen. Most homeless people (like me) prefer to be left alone and not handed food or money like we're too ignorant to earn it. (I'm homeless because rent is too high, banks cheat people, and gaps in work history count against you.)

the best way you can help them is help them find jobs, or even create jobs for them if you are capable of doing this. This way you are not only helping them for a day or two, you are giving them a whole new prospect in life.

One by one. And in a one-on-one situation. That way you get the immediate benefit, and so does your benefactor. You can be choosy, but Be careful, please.
