East v. West

I always thought it was weird that the NHL even thought of doing NA v. World. Not to get all afterschool special but, everyone's an NHL hockey player, there's no reason to draw more attention to their nationality. Seriously, hockey fan's have warmed up to European players a lot over the last ten years (even Don Cherry has lightened up on the subject), but it wasn't always like that.

Maybe the NHL felt since it's mostly North Americans who vote for the All Stars they should level the playing field so more International players get a shot. Totally unnecessary, maybe ten or fifteen years ago this would be been a good idea, now no one really cares where their favorite players are from, just who they play for.

I definitely think it's time to stick with East v. West.

East vs. West

It's the classic format, it has something of a traditional rivalry and teammates are able to play with each other. In the end it make things simpler for everyone especially the fans.

North America vs World is very gimmicky, an artificial rivalry, leaves out actual legitimate all star NHL players and is confusing to most everyone. Another classic example of the Bettman NHL trying to pull the wool over its actual fans with smoke and mirrors

I have always liked East vs. West. However, I would love to see the All-Star game move into a more traditional format, something along the lines of a Campbell versus Wales matchup. I miss the names.

East vs West is probably better. It is funner seeing great players from all over the World playing for there confrence, other than Just playing against North America.

I prefer the East vs. West format because it allows players from one team to stick together.

East vs. West. One continent versus the world always seemed a little....racist to me. I mean, in the NHL, you should be the best at whatever team you signed with, not where you were born. Save that stuff for international play when you are representing your country; not your employer.

East vs. West.

The biggest problem with the NHL All-Star Game is the fact the since it doesn't count for ANYTHING - no one really puts any effort into it. This includes the Goaltenders, which is why you 14-12 hockey games.

At least in baseball, the All-Star game determines home field advantage in the post-season.
