Ive written a full script for a comedy/family/teen movie, the movie lasts for about 90minutes. I have written every word to the script and i have a good idea of what all the charectors look and sound like, I want my movie to be set in America and all the charectors are American. I dont have hardly any money, how do i turn a script into a movie or improve my script?

I worked as a movie extra on several good films, and the producers are often a good person to contact. You need a good talent agent that knows the right people, and you can find many of them on the movie set. Since you are an unknown, it will be difficult to find someone to give you a chance. You need a known agent to help your cause.

You're already getting some good advice, and allow me to add a little.

1) Disregard the "mail yourself a copy of the script" suggestion. It's *not* a safe method to protect yourself. See my link for details.

2) Register your script with the WGA. It's not only a method to protect yourself, it's doing so with people who don't do anything *but* worth with film scripts and have years of experience doing so.

3) Make sure it's in the proper format! There's almost a universal standard for the way a film script is formatted and if this is your first script then there's always a chance that you've made mistakes or even done it completely incorrectly. An improperly formatted script has a serious chance of getting tossed in the trash by someone who's used to reading them, even if it's the next "Citizen Kane." At the very least, pick up a book on screenwriting and give it a quick look. After you register with the WGA you could always get an experienced screenwriter to look at it. Either way, don't start submitting it anywhere until you know it's right.

Now comes the hard part. Getting people to look at it.

4) As mentioned by others, you can get an agent. If people think your script is good, they'll shop it around and take a cut if it sells. If they're not so sure, they may shop it around for pay. Some production companies will accept unsolicited scripts. Some won't. Some will take something on recommendation from someone they trust. It's really all up to luck, legwork, and persistence at this point.

Good luck!

You have several options:

1. Employ an agent who will shop the script to production companies for you. This can be expensive.

2. Find an independent production company. You may have to give them rights to your idea, but depending on the deal you make with them, you'll still receive writing credits and possibly own a good percentage of the film.

3. Find an independent writer who will fine tune the script and use his connections to shop the idea.

PROTECT YOURSELF FIRST!!!!!! If you have very little money, mail yourself a copy of the script certified mail. This way you will have third-party verification of when you originally had the script. If your idea is any good, you can bet people will try to copy parts or all of it and call it their own.

From their, I would suggest trying to find an agent or manager to help shop your script around. You should find people that will only work on a percentage of what you make.. i.e: you don't make anything, neither do they.
