Hey i got 2gb of memory and expandable to 4gb and just put in Vista... ANd the computer has been running slower. I might have bad memory and going to run a test in a little bit. My question is: if i have bad memory is it better to replace the bad memory or would it be better just to add 2gb of memory along with the bad memory?

If memory fails tests, REPLACE, adding will NOT solve it.

run memtest for at least 3-5 hours. If it comes back with any errors, then you will need to replace it. Like the others said, replace it. If you simply add more to it, then the problem will still be there. Bad memory can slow you down by forcing the cpu to send multiple requests for the same info, rather than just one. Often times, if the cpu doesn't get the info it requested, it will freeze up or cause a number of other problems.

Your best bet is to replace the bad memory. Why keep it in there if it doesn't work? Besides, the system might attempt to access it and just slow you down...as it is doing now.

Is it better to fix a leaking engine, or just put oil in it?
Download a program that checks your RAM, if its faulty replace it.
Running a computer with 2gig of good and 2gig of bad RAM with probably be slower and more prone to crashing than just the 2gig of good.
