i have to do a science research project... my topic is the nuclear reactor (Enrico Fermi). the topic has to basically explain what it is from Enrico Fermi's (a scientist) point of view. i only have one week to come up with my poster sketch...

Look up "Negative Temperature Coefficient of Reactivity".

In a nuclear reactor, the temperature coefficient of reactivity is a measure of the change in reactivity, or the change in power, brought about by a change in temperature of the reactor components or the reactor coolant. In water-cooled nuclear reactors, the predominant reactivity changes are brought about by changes in the temperature of the coolant water. In this case, the temperature coefficient is negative, which means that an increase in coolant temperature causes a decrease in reactivity, and vice-versa.

If it was positive, then (((BOOM!!!))).

FERMI WANTED TO HAVE A CONTROLLED REACTION WHICH IS ONE WHERE A NUCLEAR REACTION TAKES PLACE WITHOUT AN EXPLOSION OCCURRING THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS THAT GENERATE ELECTRICITY ARE EXAMPLES OF CONTROLLED REACTIONS.

The first thing to do is not to panic and go to Wikipedia. Everything you need to know is there.
