The 200r transmssion is new but it's not changing gears correctly and I plan on puttin bigger wheels on later, I haven't decided If I would do rallys are not but what kind of transmission would be good for rims?

I used to work at AAMCO transmissions and let me tell you the 200 was the biggest piece of crap GM ever put out! It was originally designed for the Chevette and even then grenaded itself in diesel applications. Toss it, get you a good ole nearly bullet proof THM 350. Its a bolt in swap with minor modifications to the trans mount, run a vacumn line for the modulater and there you go. You have to use the 350 converter. About $130 for a rebuild kit, about $70 for a converter and your way better than new. And as for the 400, yep thats the best but more extensive mods=more money. Depends on what you want.

I unfortunately had a TM-200 IN A 76 Nova with a gutless 305. I realized it shifted oddly the day I drove it home from the dealer when it was brand new. All the literature stated that it was supposed to have the 350 trans in it. I contacted a lawyer to try to dump it into the new car dealers lap. He said: I had purchased the car in PA. and I lived in NY so it would be costly to bring false advertising charges to the dealer or GM.
If you had a choice of all the GM automatic transmissions the Turbo Hydro 400 is the one to go after. With a few modifications (shift kit) it can handle any beast you plan to build. I realize it's only a 3 speed but the gear splits are great.
I had a fully blueprinted 425 hp. 427 in a 69 Chevelle and it was down right scary every time it shifted. The transmission originally was behind a 375 hp. 396. It literally went sideways on the 1 - 2 shift. When it was wet out I never used passing gear. Remember, tires at that time left a lot to be desired

Through experience the Turbo 350 or 400r were the best trans
produced they use both trans in drag cars four wheel drive trucks and many other things, i would put one of those to in, then you would have no worries, there durable and cheap..you can prob find one in a salvage yard for a couple hundred bucks, just make sure it has the two wheel drive tail peace and not the four wheel

This trans is a dud. If you are going to upgrade the trans, I would go with the THM350 or to a lesser degree, the THM250. The only difference between the two is one uses clutches and the other uses a band for the second gear.

Are you going to be racing or are you going to be driving to school? Could you match your transmission with your white letters on the tires too?
200r transmissions can withstand 400 hp if properly built. What are your specific needs?

If the trans is not working properly,you should check all vacuum hoses for broken or cracked areas. If so, replace them. If your trans has wires running to it, check each connection for broken or frayed wiring. As for tires, this should not be a problem. Hopes this helps.

the th200 is junky...not a sturdy unit at all.
the 200r4 can be made VERY stout, look at the GNs rolling 9s and 10s....
gotta clarify which one you have.
and as far as durability and tire size....you can have a larger diameter or width and as long as you dont abuse it or like to do burnouts either will do.
i prefer the th350, got a JW3000 in mine!

i would go with a TH350 or a TH400
