I'm 35 weeks pregnant and last night I had some menstrual like cramps I was really scared since I dont know what being in labor feels like. But they were gone in the morning. How will I know if I'm in labor or not?

Contractions start of as menstrual like cramps but they get much more painful, believe me you will know the difference because they will not go away. You were most likely experiencing Braxton Hicks. Hang in there you are almost there, good luck.

You'll know youre in labor because the contractions hurt like nothing else youve felt before and they dont stop even when you lay down and drink water and rest, and hours pass, or else your water breaks.

Period like cramps are normal and are usually the baby moving into the birth canal, or the feeling of the cervix softening. Both of those are normal for 35 weeks.

You probably are having contractions, I had them for weeks before I went into labor. Just keep on eye on the frequency, like when they become regular, when i went into the hospital I was contracting every 4 minutes and I was only 1- 2 cm. My midwife had told me if i wasn't sure to take a warm bath or a nap and then see how they feel. Good Luck!!

While contractions start off feeling like cramps you will know when you are in real labor because they will come regularly and you can time it with a watch or a clock and you will feel it in your bottom. With each cramp you will feel something kinda poking at your cervix and when it's over you will feel it stop. As you progress the poking will become more and more unbearable and you will feel it in your butt as well.

Usually Contractions are more in the middle of your abdomen where menstrual cramps are lower. And contractions arent as consistent as menstrual cramps....they come and go.
Good Luck

Contractions are much harder than cramps and if thier sevral minutes apart then you could be going in to labor. If they went away and you haven't had any since the morning then your fine.

Don't worry - you will KNOW when you're in labour. I had mild contractions for four days before labour really started. Nothing like it in the world!!

cramps are very common at that point in pregnancy. contractions will usually tighten the ENTIRE uterus and you belly will be hard and tight they can be anywhere from uncomfortable to very painful.
