a moral decision is based on reason not emotion. One opinion is not as good as another and you have to have good reasons to back up your reasoning. You need to look up your definition of Moral and make sure you have a clear understanding on what it means. Good luck and relax I have written a paper just like that before and as long as you use good arguments based on your couse lessons you will be fine.

I would have to say the share an equally... with out reasoning we wouldn't understand our emotions, and why we have them. On the other hand we reason the history and present give use our unique emotions that change every second. So that is my take on it. As far as effecting our moral decisions reasoning can change it. In WW2 the solders knew that killing men was against the morals but reasoned that in order too restore peace to the world they would need to do what ever it took.

It depends upon who this justification is aimed at. Who is the moral authority to whom you are explaining your decision?
For those who admit that God might exist, the justification is to God. Honesty becomes paramount because God is going to see through any rationalization. Conscience is an feeling/emotion which serves as a warning signal that all might not be right. But the decision is not based on how we feel.
For those who reject God, the justification is a psychological exercise involving self deception. We imagine explaining our decision to our conscience and our conscience is the product of a lifetime of society influences that results in a feeling (or emotion). Since this is all imaginings, we can spin it however we like and usually succeed. Feelings do not have moral authority.

Moral decisions are based on gut reactions. So really its mostly about how we feel about something. Moral systems, are something different. One can use reason to analyze the gut reactions we have. Sometimes our intuition and emotional responses are simply wrong or ill advised. For those who believe in the supernatural, morality is decided by divinity. Nonsense sure, but there you have it.

Justification is as old as mankind. I'm sure Eve worked hard at justifying biting into the apple, when caught that day.
For me, to justify a moral decision, is like understanding it is important to stand behind what you believe in. To write a 1200 word essay, you must believe in what you are doing. To write about moral decisions, ask yourself what you believe is the difference between moral and immoral.
As for reason and emotion? I think of the young man who "reasons" his way into making his girlfriend believe how much he loves her. --- It's her emotion that justifies her reason for giving herself to him... by believing in him. Sort of that justified decision to believe what you are doing is absolutely right.
Good luck. Hope this gets you to thinking, at least.

to a greater question and therefore more complex answer
www.quodlibet.net/kant...also look on philosophy websites which include Kant. He is one of the master of Moral Autonomy and this may give you a clue as to how to start your quest

There is alot of understanding once you dig deep into yourself and begin to realize the greatness, mercy and ability to great success with goodness and peace towards everyone and yourself is the start of that.
You have to look into some good examples around you those you know have been successful not in money but in goodness.
That is where you will find all the great things that teachers love to read, its in intelligence and brilliance that we are made.
That is a mercy to you and everyone around you.

moral decisions can weight on one greatly in a sense of justice...I'd certainly put reason ahead of emotions, no matter how something should try to make me act emotionally, emotional decisions are always bad, because they're not being made on logical grounds...

You should have to keep in you mind three things 1--Morality
2--Emotions & 3--Reasons. Now just what to do is to relate them positively keeping in view social aspects and trditional ethics of society. You will sure be able to write1200 words easily.
