Is more govt control and regulation a left or right wing agenda?

Many blame liberals for nanny state laws but I see the most draconian laws coming from the current right wing govt. Is it possible they are two sides of the same coin. The US is slowly becoming a police state.

In the past few administrations, it does seem that both the right and the left have been advocating larger and larger government. I would agree that they seem to be two sides of the same coin, however, I do not think the US is becoming a police state. Our system is set up so that the people can replace our Representatives at election time. Americans would not stand for the government going too far.
