I'm only 7 weeks pregnant with my first and have already gained 10 lbs since finding out I was pregnant. I was a normal, healthy weight before getting pregnant, but I was bullimic. I won't do that while I'm pregnant and I haven't, but now that I'm eating normally I'm gaining weight like crazy. I gorge myself on Krispie Kreme's or fast food or anything. I just have to eat frequently due to morning sickness, but I'll have an apple or a granola bar every 1-2 hours. I'm really getting depressed about gaining weight so fast. What can I do? Is there something wrong? I wouldn't mind walking or doing aerobics but I've just been exhausted and sick. Any ideas? Thanks!

I see my pregnancy brain left out an important word above. Clarification:
I DON'T gorge myself on junk food. I eat normally.

You need to stop thinking so much about your weight. That's part of your sickness talking to you. Stop thinking about your weight. Different women gain differently and what you need to do is just stick with healthy eating habits. No gorging, no purging, no skipping meals. Don't get depressed over the weight you gain, think of each pound as a pound towards a happy and healthy baby. In a few weeks when your energy picks up you can start walking more and doing some prenatal exercises that will help you feel better about your body, but seriously for someone who has bullimia or anorexia the WORST thing you can do is think about your weight. It'll just make you want to fall back into the bad habits again.

It is not about you anymore! You won't "gain" excessive weight if you eat properly, which is sounds like you are not since you are gorging on Krispy Kreme donuts. Be very careful, you have another life inside of you that cannot make any decisions. Eat properly. Instead of eating full meals, do what I did eat small things throughout the day. Whether it be granola bars, fruit, smoothies, crackers whatever. And be sure to take your prenatal vitamins. Stay away from the donuts and bad stuff! Only eat them as a treat once in awhile. For morning sickness eat crackers when you get up out of bed and drink ginger tea, it helps the tummy.
As far as feeling depressed get over it. You will gain the weight you need and carry this baby for 9 months. After you have the baby give yourself 9 months to get back into shape. I ate properly and only gained the 30 lbs. and 2 weeks after I got home from the hospital it was gone! If you don't eat crap you shouldn't gain extra weight! Good luck, and remember to take care of the life inside of you!

With my first pregnancy, I gained a lot of weight. I was 125 to begin with, and by the end of the pregnancy I had gained 52 lbs. I wasn't eating terribly, I did have a major craving for spaghetti, so lots of carbs there, but when I delivered, I had a lot of water, placenta, and an 8lb 7oz baby girl. I shrunk a lot in a few short weeks, and was back in my pre-pregnancy clothes fairly quickly. My friends were amazed I could get so huge, but then lose it that quickly too. Every body is different, as long as you aren't eating fast food every day, and getting some exercise, you are probably going to be fine.

I wouldn't worry too much about gaining 10 lbs in only 7 weeks unless your OBYGN says that she is concerned. If you haven't already done so mention your concerns at your next visit.
Gaining weight all depends on your prepregnancy weight. Go to http://www.pregnancywithoutpounds.com/ this has some great info which I used during my pregnancy.
I gained alot the first 10 weeks of pregancy and leveled off at the end to only gain 32 lbs. My daughter is now 14 months and I've never been this skinny! Oh and my baby was 6 lbs 3 oz when born. But I've heard of women gaining 90 lbs (yes that is correct) and giving birth to a 7 lbs boy. And women that have gained 30 lbs and giving birth to a 9 lbs baby! So it doesn't matter as long as you are healthy and your baby is healthy.
Good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!

If you were bullimic before you were short on nutrients, and fats, and other key things needed for growing a baby. You will gain weight quick to make up for it, but as long as you only eat when you're hungry, and eat purposeful healthy foods you'll only gain what your body needs.

Iam almost 5' 7", before pregnancy i was 126 lbs, by the end i was 171. I lost half of it RIGHT after delivery, and now after 8 months I have like 6 pounds left to go, but I breast feed so it'll be over when that is.

Dont stress it. Your body knows what its doing.

Tip: Eat healthier and less in portion but more frequently! Brisk walks...not in mid day! Just relax. Weight gain is normal just watch what you eat and how much! I am on #2...I gained barely anything with #1 but with this one I feel like I am gaining a whole lot. I just go about my business and leave the worry for after the baby. Weight can be lost if you are determined!

Don't worry about it too much. If your body is holding onto the weight it needs it. When you hit the 2nd trimester you are likely to feel a bit better and can start going for walks to get back into the swing of thing. As long as you are eating healthy and taking care of yourself try not to focus on your weight. Send your weight scale over to a friends house and only weigh in at the doctors office every 4 wks.

You sound as if you may have been under weight before getting pregnant. If so you may gain quickly in the begining of your pregnancy. As long as you are eating healthy, and induldging occasionally I dont see anything wrong with your weight gain. However I am not your doctor, please write a list of questions and ask them to your doc at your next appt. If you ask your doc for a referral they can send you to a nutritionist/ dietician that can detail out some more information for you and assure you that you are doing what is best for you and baby.
As for your weight and self image. Enjoy this time. If your body is telling you are hungry you have to eat for the baby, listen to your body.
I am pregnant too and at first had a hard time with jeans not fitting and such, now in my seventh month, my husband loves to rub my belly and i love it too, it is a signal to me that i have a happy healthy baby in there.
Wishing you the best of luck.

It depends on individual and on races on weight gain and the pregnancy period. If you eat normally and do not have special craving for food. It is alright now. Usually weight gain accelerate during last trismeter of the pregnancy. So need to be extra careful on weight gain. Also have your blood sugar level check at each checkout. This is to ensure your baby and yourself are health at different stages. Remember. Do not overeat. if baby gets to big, delivery is not easy and natural delivery may not be possible. If you starve yourself. you and your baby will be affected. Walking is good . But aerobics depends on individual body.In my case, I was a high risk threatened miscarriage, I can hardly able to walk. I rested on bed for 3 months. But now, my daughter is healthy and 5 yrs old .

you have to think about this. you have been forcing your self to not eat and vomit. your body just isn't use to getting all the nutrients it is now so it's taking advantage of it. LOL some women also just gain weight when other don't not all pregnancy or women are the same. I myself have lost 27 pounds since getting pregnant and my sister in law gained 20 right off the bat. also it depend on your metabolism and what you are eating. If your doctor is happy with your weight gain and says the baby is doing great i wouldn't worry to much about. it's amazing what we will do to our bodies for our children. just take care of your self and baby.
