Last night I was reviewing the Amber alert and Meagan's law, both named after innocent little girls who were tragically murdered and or raped. Also I constantly see the sick ppl on to catch a predator... What's causing a person to think that molesting and or murdering a child is ok? I'm thinking it's a cycle of abuse, but there has to be more to it.

How on earth does turning off the television help things. Thousands of children are abducted every year, if no one watched missing children reports or paid attention to the amber alert, many would never make it back home. I believe if we can find out what's wrong with these people, then our children might stand a better chance... Knowledge is power.

Well, there are myriad possible answers to your question including biological, psychological and sociological factors, but I find the most interesting aspect of your question one that I have posed before that seems to stymie many people. Research shows that many, although not all, certainly, child molestors/abusers were themselves abused as children. This begs the question, at what point do these abused children become the hated and despised "sickos" that many want to kill at the mere suggestion of criminal behavior?? We feel tremendous sympathy for child victims of predators, but then expect these very same victims to somehow miraculously "get over it" and move on with a law-abiding life unimpaired by their experience as children when they reach a certain age. What age is that?? At what age does someone cease to be a victim we care about and want to help and cross the line to perpetrator we loathe and detest?? And just how does this process occur?? Or do we just want to conveniently overlook the huge body of research that demonstrates this connection??

They themselves must have been molested or abused as children to make them think that is ok

It is a deopement issue - neglected at the time of normal brain developement, left for hours in the care of people who did not interact with them

Who knows

Perhaps they are semi-retarded and enjoy preying on defensless and innocent lives. They most likely get a thrill out of getting away with it until someone catches them and cuts off their kahonies. Then they cry like the perverted demons that they really are!

The more laws the better!

Cycle of abuse is definitely a big part of it. You grow up in certain circumstances and environment, and you reflect that environment. But extreme mental illness is a big part, too. The fact is that we are run by chemicals in our brains, and if those chemicals are not aligned right, weird things happen. The truth is that most of these sickos are incapable of ration or reason. They are just that: SICK. That is why someone who is abused as a kid, like myself, can grow up to be a healthy human being, while another becomes an abuser, too. I have no biological mental illness to complicate things, and I had support from other sources. It all makes a big difference. On the flip side, someone can be mentally ill and never hurt a fly, because they grew up in a positive environment.

That is why it is so important to provide for children in this country. Get them out of abusive homes, provide for their health, and get them educated... do these things, and the rate of mentally ill abusers (and other crimes) will drop exponentially.

maximum predators have been abused in some way as a newborn. whilst something happens to a newborn sexually it imprints them in a definite way and impacts them continuously. virtually all predators have been abused or sexually abused in some methods as a newborn. that is unhappy, and it would not excuse their habit in any way whether that is a tragic statistic (to no longer say that one and all who have been abused grow to be abusers). God, i'm so sorry to pay attention this befell to you. I have not got any concept what makes a newborn vulnerable yet i might agree a trusting nature might join why some infants get sucked in. yet infants are helpless and there is not any way that that is EVER their fault. there grow to be and is not any longer something incorrect with you. The person, the predator is a hundred% in charge and in charge. It has no longer something to do with you. I repeat, it has no longer something to do with you. They deserve for terrible issues to take place for them for taking great factor approximately an harmless newborn.

I do not buy the bad childhood defense, while it may be a factor, myself and many others I know have overcome bad childhoods and are functioning well in society. I believe it is a mental disorder (malfunctioning brain chemistry, etc.), sometimes a traumatic event will trigger the disgraceful and sickening behavior. I am all for locking these people up for life, due to the fact so many of them will and do repeat these horrible behaviors.

There doesn't need to be more to it. Cycle of abuse is absolutely a factor in this type of behavior. Case by case, the details may differ...one was exposed to sex too young, another was abused, another watched a parent be abused, another never developed a conscience, but ALL of them are seeking to regain control over a part of thgeir life they can never regain control over. So they shift over to something they CAN control...my suggestion to you is stop watching these programs. There is no evidence that this behavior has increased over time, but news channels using it to scare people and boost ratings is unconscienable. God forbid we create one more reason for someone to act out this way...to get on TV. If you want to affect change, turn your TV off.

I think if science knew the answer to that question- such things wouldn't happen. I think it's environment. I think parents can raise a criminal. It's rare, I believe for people to be born sick like that. That is just my opinion though.

Typically they didn't have the best childhood either, and never got help for it. It's about power and control over their past.
