Some rare times you can find out at 16 weeks (the baby will have started making sex organs at about 10 weeks but they are not able to be seen most of the time until 18-20 weeks.
Most doctors will try to make you wait till the 20th -22nd week to find out on an ultrasound (it has a better chance of being seen by then) but you can talk to him and see when you can get your first ultrasound to try to find out.
Keep in mind not everyone is able to find out, even up to 40 weeks, most can but the baby also has a say in it. My best friend didn't know she was having a girl till she gave birth because her little one was just never in the right position during her ultrasounds.
I hope this helps and you are able to find out!
Congradulations by the way!

16 weeks is normally the earliest that your doctor will perform the big ultrasound. It's possible to find out the sex this early but only if the baby cooperates. Some babies don't cooperate at 20+ weeks. During my 1st pregnancy, I was a little over 18 weeks and my son was CLEARLY a boy, lol. This time, it's on Monday and I will be 17 weeks, 5 days. Hopefully he/she will cooperate!

Usually by about 17 wks they can tell, as long as baby cooperates. My baby was face down with legs together at my 20 wk check, but fortunatly for me, I work in xray and had one of my ultrasound friends recheck me a week later. They said boy and they were right! Just a little FYI though, US is only about 80-90% accurate in determining sex. It depends on babies position and the skill of the tech (although even the best techs can be wrong sometimes). It happens quite often for people expecting one sex to get the other instead.

Best time to determine is after 18 weeks but before 26-30 because of the limited room for the baby to move!

The docs say that the sex can be determined around the 16 week mark. At your 20 week ultrasound, you should be able to see it then, and confirm if you have any more after that :)

It depends on if you already have children. If it's your first time, the baby grows slower than women who already have children. Usually the 2nd child grows alot faster inside. I have 2 children...with my first child I found out the sex at 5 months but with my 2nd I found out the sex at 3 months.

You can find out as early as 18/20weeks but sometimes it can be hard to determin.
Its better to wait untill between 24 and 32 weeks, you have a better chance of seeing!
