Well, if someone is dropping them on me...I'd have to have some to return the favor, especially if I don't want to be eradicated.

Nuclear weapons are a powerful deterrent. They have done a pretty good job of preventing conventional wars on a world wide scale. Russia and China may be able to destroy us but they will assure their own destruction by doing so, that is, unless we let them get ahead of us.
Yes, they are a viable option.

Yes, nuke everyone! Maybe the cockroaches will evolve into a reasonably rational civilization since we obviously can't when people think nuclear weapons are a viable option.
