ok I'm game!

1. World events
A. 1969 and the moon walk. I was 12 and was amazed by the whole Apollo program. Made me proud to be American. I sat outside every night and gazed up thinking about the men on the moon and how someday maybe I could go.
B. Vietnam War. I was too young to really understand most of the politics/protests and I was torn between who was "right". I think having it shown on tv every night really made me more aware of what WAS and now IS going on in other countries. side note.. Desert Storm made me fearful for my family because I was ex-military and the thought of what might happen.. the "bomb".. scared me ..still does
C. 9/11 I don't think I was ever so torn by emotion that day. Watching the news for days I was mad, angry, sad, scared, depressed, proud, worried.. everything all at once. I was at work and came very close to going to my daughter from school because I needed to be with her and KNOW she was ok. another side note.. Katrina and what happened to the Gulf Coast brought a lot of the same emotions out.

2.Movies
A. 2001: A Space Odyssey. one of the best ever!
B. The Wizard of OZ .. besides the whole "no place like home" theme who doesn't love the munchkins!
C. The Gods Must be Crazy... just because!

3. T.V.
A. Wild Kingdom ..The original show. I loved Sundays watching Jim and Marlin and all the exotic places and animals
B. Star Trek.. the 1st one. That space thing I mentioned above! lol
C. Any National Geographic special. These were "events" at out house as a kid.. Especially if they had to do with the ocean! side note.. Blue Planet ranks up there too!

4. Music this one is hard I like so many different kinds!
A. Crosby, Stills, Nash, & Young... their music was not only relevant to the times the harmonies are beautiful.
B. Led Zeppelin. Rock at it's best!
C. These days I listen to a lot of country, yea I know Zeppelin to country? But the songs are about real things and real people and real life. My life in some cases.

5. Leaders..another tough one..
A. John F Kennedy. I was only 6 in 1963 but his influence in what it is to be American still holds with me. Even now that we know he wasn't all he was cracked up to be his kind leadership is still one people aspire to.
B. Queen Elizabeth.(The Queen Mother) during WWII when told she should leave her country with her children she refused. She worked helping her husband King George VI and became a symbol ot determination and spirit which inspired people to defeat Hitler. And if not for her influence Churchill might never have had a chance becoming Prime Minister! Her influence brought Churchill to the for front. King George didn't like Churchill! Very determined lady.
C. My Mother.. Not because she was my mom but because she taught me a lot about life and how to press on in the face of adversity. I learned from her that you do the best you can, and to hold onto the things you believe in. She showed me the natural world and how I could make a difference. She was always the 1st ine when ever something need done of I needed help to show up! Even when we lived in different states. At the darkest times in my life she was there . She wasn't perfect but she showed me that was ok to and that even if you couldn't have it all you damn sure could try for it! Oh How I hated some of it but now I'm glad she stuck with me! She died in 93 from brain cancer and even then she never complained only worried about us and helped us to accept what was going on. She was a very practical person with a fun goofy side and I hope my kids see me that way.

Well that was hard. had to really think about some of my answers!

DOB..July 4, 1957 (I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy! )

b] the advent of the internet; the world is at my fingertips, if I have a question about anything at all, I can get the answer in seconds;
c] television; now on demand, over 100 channels, great entertainment for me during "down" time.

3] The Sopranos, Six Feet Under, Huff, Dexter, Law & Order SVU; Mad Men; Curb Your Enthusiasm, The Twilight Zone, Big Love, and uh, Tales from the Crypt.

4] The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Stone Temple Pilots, Allman Brothers, Tool, Rammstein, Depeche Mode, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Nirvana (Beethoven, Mozart, J.S. Bach, Chopin, Liszt, Brahms, Strauss, Rachmaninov on Sundays)...so much music, so little time.

5] I can't think of a one...sorry. I think the leaders mentioned by answerer number one suit me just fine, especially MLK Jr....
