Look at his numbers and get back with me, Jack.

He most certainly does not have WAY better numbers than Magglio. And it is expected that A-Rod would do what he is doing every year and he was WAY bad last year. The fact that Ordonez is still where he is makes him a testament in resilience. Since the Tigers more than likely will not make the play offs I am sure ARod will win but I think Ordonez has had a better year because it has been so over the top for him. I thought that was what MVP was all about not someone who finally is doing what he is expected to do.

Although I believe Arod deserves and will win the MVP, I couldn't help but notice you used the word "still". Over the past week Magglio has actually improved his chances of winning the MVP while Arod has struggled. Magglio has continued his torrid pace by getting another 8 hits in his last 7 games while Arod has slumped and has only 3 hits in his last 7 games.
Also, you should not discount the contributions of one, Jorge Posada, who is following up his career year with, yet another, career year, all at the ripe old age of 36. The two of them plus Jeter are all equally responsible for the Yankee success.

This is not even a debate anymore, Alex will be MVP but Magglio will finish 2nd so that is why people are still talking about him. You can't give the MVP award to a guy whose team has fizzled when the games mean the most. Magglio has had a great season but A-Rod's has been better.

It's gotta be ARod. I'm a Red Sox fan, and I still can't see how there's a race for anything except second place in the AL MVP voting.
Unfortunately, I think ARod is one of those guys who was so good, so young that any season where he doesn't win the Triple Crown and a Gold Glove and lead his team to being 15 games ahead in the standings is a disappointment. Mantle was another one - the writers always seemed to be looking for excuses to pick anyone except Mantle every year, even though in his prime, he was the best player in the AL every year. Bonds should have won about 7 or 8 MVPs in his pre-steroids era, but won "only" 3.

As an Indians fan who has been at the past two games against the Tigers, I have been awestruck when I see Maggs numbers posted on the scoreboard. 130 RBI....etc. And - Payrod should be great every year with that 250 mil contract. I remember Maggs coming up as a young player with the White Sox. He seemed special then and he is special. And who cares if his team does not make the playoffs? I get tired of this taking away from players and teams. One year people were all in a lather because the Indians had "too many" players named to the All Star team when they were not contenders. Give it a rest, already. My vote goes to Ordonez.

Writers have column inches to fill, and there's only so much they can squeeze out of "Alex Rodriguez stampeding his way to 3rd MVP". That's accurate, but it is BORING to read. So they have to play like there's another contender, some possible drama, and Ordonez is the only other player who can challenge ARod even remotely.
Alex is going to pull down at least 20 of the 28 first place votes; he might get unanimity.

pondering Tiger followers have been suggesting Curtis Granderson would desire to have won the MVP over Arod, that is form of puzzling to take this question heavily. yet, heavily speaking, Maggs is a huge participant. there's little question approximately that. In the different season, he might properly have won the MVP. yet that is no longer in basic terms the different season. It form of jogs my memory of the season while many Yankee followers...myself no longer secure via the way...theory Sheffield would desire to have won the MVP over Vlad. yet Vlad replaced into so a methods earlier than Sheffield and lots greater deserving that it replaced into form of stupid to be offended over Sheff no longer prevailing. properly, that's the comparable right here. that is high-quality to back up your place city gamers. whether it is likewise significant to realize the certainty of the activity. In 2007, Arod replaced into the suited participant in the activity. era.

The only stats "Lollipop Lips" Gay Rod is beating Maggs in are the power stats. He has almost twice as many home runs as Maggs and only 10 more RBI's !!! I'll put Maggs at the plate anyday over Gay Rod in a game winning situation. Gay Rod is a choker and Maggs is clutch (obviously) !!!

This is a forgone conclusion. A-Rod won the MVP a long time ago.
Magglio is the MVP of the Tigers and that is as far as it goes.
