But they both go up....

Does that "increase the income gap between the highest-paid and lowest paid" drivers?

And is that unfair?

And trouble maker there is NO SUCH THING AS COST PUSH INFLATION.

MONEY causes price inflation. Sometimes it also causes wage inflation. But that doesn't mean rising real wages cause inflation.

Yes it does increase the income gap.

No it is not unfair.

Each trucker negociated their own pay scale. Individual effort, work ethic, talent, and panache determine what is fair.

If you agree to do a job, and are compensated in accord with that contract, then the fairness of what others make is moot.

In ten years the mexicans will be driving all the trucks anyhow so why bother to answer this question .

NO change has happened if both incomes are increased by equal amounts . Now if each group gets a ten percent raise then those already making the most will make even more .

This is the problem with economics . Raising the lowest paid workers wage by the same amount you raise top paid executives creates massive inflation .
Yet economists still do not see the reality .

I am beginning to think that the country is being run by complete imbeciles .

No it's not unfair, because there is a clear route for the entry level drivers to become experienced, and gain those pay increases. Other aspects of our society and economy don't have that.

Increasing pay for the veteran, experienced drivers is so commonin trhe motor freifght industry.
Trucking co's do it for one reason-- to keep their experienced drivers with them.
Fair? Maybe, maybe not. the way it is? Yes.
