Is there a station near Tokyo Narita airport that goes to Kyoto? if so, details would be greatly appreciated, and a site would be nice, too.

From Narita Airport you would ride the Narita Express to Tokyo Station and then change trains to Tokaido Shinkansen Line. You can by all the tickets you will need at Narita airport. You can find out more at the Japan Rail Website: http://www.japanrail.com/

If you are coming into Japan on a Tourist Visa and plan to travel around you should consider a JR Rail Pass, which will save alot of money and lets you ride all but the fastest (nozomi) shinkansen. see the following link for more: http://www.japanrail.com/JR_japanrailpass.html

As an alternative, you might want to look into flying from Tokyo to Osaka. Either Itami Airport, Kansai International or even Kobe's Airport and then ride the train or take a bus to Kyoto. I have at times found this to be much cheaper and less stressful depending on the connection time.

From Narita airport, after you exit customs and immigration, go down to the lower sub level where the JR Narita station is. There you can ask for a ticket to Tokyo station from the ticket window. At Tokyo station, you can go straight to the shinkansen tracks and ask for a ticket to Kyoto.
Alternatively, you can go to the JR office and ask for a ticket to Tokyo station and for a shinkasen ticket Kyoto. At that time, the office staff can try and find a shinkasen that will fit your needs.

Shinkansen departs from Tokyo station which is not near Narita airport. But you can take JR Narita Express train which takes you to Tokyo station in 1 hour.

See the below page for detail.

confident you ought to use the JR rail bypass on any JR practice you experience. regrettably there's no longer a Shinkansen everywhere in Nara. you will would desire to take the JR Nara line to Kyoto station, the place then you circulate to the Shinkansen to Tokyo. returned, all are valid with the JR Rail bypass! Shinkansens do no longer in basic terms run from Kyoto to Tokyo, as you would be able to desire to seize it from yet another end which includes Maibara in Shiga prefecture, Shin Osaka in Osaka. It helps to acquire a map or consult with the only given to you via the JR rail bypass provider (the place you got it from). yet Kyoto station is the nearest shinkansen station from the place you're. take exhilaration in!

You have to get from Narita to Tokyo or Ueno station to get on the Shinkansen. You could take the Narita Express to Tokyo, or the Keisei Skyliner to Ueno. The former would be simpler, but a little more expensive.

Tokyo or Ueno station, their both fairly closeby. When you go to Tokyo/Ueno though, take the Express train (Skyliner) or it's going to take WAY too long to get there. It's not that much more expensive to take the Skyline, and it's worth it. PS-ueno station is way kooler and less confusing. It's been renewed and has a billion places to shop/eat inside. It rocks.
