Probably not; it is looked down on by many people, though it has a strong following among Porsche fans... and if you ever attend a Porsche club track event you are bound to find many variations of 914s at the event, and many of those will be among the faster cars!

Still, because of it's split heritage (it was actually labelled VW-Porsche in Europe), it is looked down on by some people, and it probably would figure into the running for most hated.

The original 924 gets into the running too given the use of many Audi parts (since it was originally designed by Porsche as a sports car for Audi). The original platform was also underpowered and just not quite "all there." Later versions would improve, and the 944 would finally rework the formula with all Porsche parts (based mostly on the fantastic 924 Carrera). But the base 924 definitely would be a very strong canidate for least liked.

The Cayenne is an outstanding SUV... but it is an SUV! As such, it also would go into the running.

While the 911 is a fan favorite, the '74-'77 911S is definitely the least favorite! And a 911S that has not had an engine rebuilt with correct headstuds, still features the original cooling fan, and has thermal reactors installed, would go into the running for least liked as well.

From a driving stand point, the original 917 probably deserves mention too. Obviously the success of the platform would keep this from ever being seriously considered... but the well documented early handling problems in such a fast car made this the most likely least favorite to drive.

In the end though, probably the Cayenne or the original 924 would outpace any of the other canidates, including the 914.

All Porsches are lovingly hated all over the world. They have their own quirks and their own road handling and manners. The owners have to master the art of driving any Porsche, and once this is done, the car will go to great lengths to satisfy its master. No wonder it is this 'love hate' relationship which makes it one of the most sought after cars. The 914 is a very under rated car and it is surprising why she did not agree with a lot of owners. I know of a few 914 owners, who apart from the normal comments, adore their cars.

I think the first 924's were probably some of the not-so-great Porsches, but the 914 has a VERY large following, and is also a great track car since it is truly mid-engined.
