I pick Michael Jordan. Here's why:

Great teammate
Great scorer
Great leader
Good overall player (the best of all time)
Good rebounder for a guard(averaged 8 a game one year)
Good passer (averaged 8 APG one season)
The most competitive player in NBA history

Magic Johnson is a good choice as well, because a great PG is hard to find. Wilt Chamberlain possibly, because it's hard to find quality centers anymore.

So who do you pick, and why?

"Jordan" no you don't have to tell why, because I can already tell you are an idiot, picking Kobe Bryant, so your explanation wouldn't make any sense!

Rick S... you say Bill Russel will win no matter what, he was always teamed with greatness, during his whole career he had the greatest coach ever, Red Auerbach, always had Bob Cousy, and many other great players, he walked right onto a team that was a championship contender anyway. How do you think Russel would have done if he was drafted by a bad team?

OK Bill Russel fans, Russel won 11 rings I'll give you that, but he won them when their were about 8 teams in the league! How do you think he would do if he was born in the world of todays NBA, and he brings his 15 PPG average and 6'9 body (which isn't tall enough for a center nowadays) to say the Charlotte Bobcats, how would he do? No rings, he didn't win those rings by himself.

Tweety, I know nothing about NBA history? Don't you think Kobe Bryant is the greatest of all time? MAYBE Russel is as good as you say. But how should I know, I've never seen Russel play, I'm not that old, and I doubt you are, the only thing you can possibly know about Russel is his stats.

Hoopfan, someone's using their harsh words. "MORON" and "IDIOT" wow I'm so offended, lol. Larry Bird you say? Either your just a racist little cracker or you want to be a rebel.

Are you actually looking for a good answer, or just another IDIOT that agrees with you?

First off, MORON, Bill Russell joined a team that was only 39-33 the year prior, despite having 3-4 HOFer's. That team did not win the championship, they lost in the semi's.

In Russell's rookie season, they won the championship. What was the difference? Russell.

Secondly, Cousy only played during Russell's first 7 seasons, then he retired. So did Bill Sharman and Frank Ramsey. But the Celtics continued racking up titles. What was the only constant on those teams? That's right....Bill Russell

If you think that Jordan was the best "overall" player of all time, then you really need help. He was one of the greatest SCORERS of all time. Thats about it!

To answer your question, I would pick Larry Bird. He didn't need good players around him to win. He took average players and made them better. And, he was a winner, wherever he played.

Magic Johnson would also be a good choice, as would Wilt Chamberlain, who's numbers make Jordan's look pitiful (but you refuse to face that. You would rather continue living in Michael Jordan's Fantasyland).

Bill Russell. He was a good scorer and a rock-solid defender.

Russell was the best defender ever and would have made any team a contender just by being on their roster.

My second choice would be either Wilt Chamberlain or Kareem Abdul Jabber. You can't go wrong with a great big man.

"Alpha", in the two years prior to Bill Russell's arrival, the Celtics (and Red Auerbach, the "greatest coach of all time") couldn't even win their division, despite the presence of not one, but TWO top 50 players, Cousy and Sharman.

You obviously know nothing about NBA history, give it up.

Russell made the Celtics into instant champions and became the key member of a dynasty which is unmatched in the history of sports. Auerbach became a hell of a coach after he got Russell.

As soon as Russell retired, the Celtics IMMEDIATELY collapsed.

Magic, Jordan (or poultry) and Hakeem. Magic appropriate passer and PG of all time. Jordan maximum dominate participant ever. Hakeem terrific center of all time. Magic will make the play Hakeem would desire to get open and Jordan is the decide out participant to make some thing take place with interior the subsequent 8 2d if no play excuted. I additionally theory approximately Shaq, yet Shaq is slightly slow if magic decide to run quickly wreck in assessment to Hakeem. Kareem isn't a bad selection the two.

Bill Russell

because no matter who you put around him he's gonna bring you a championship. Russell is the greatest winner in the history of the sport.

That is not a matter of opinion that is a fact proven through time

i would clearly pick bill russell with no hesitation whatsoever. 11 rings in 13 years???come on thats greatness right there. you say wilt chamberlain, he was great but not as good as russell. he AVERAGED 20+ rebounds during his career and probly 8+ blocks if they kept track of blocks back then.

I think I would choose Shaq.

I truly believe that Wilt would not be able to handle Shaq, who could? In his prime I mean.

It's a tough choice. All I need is a PG or SG and the championships will come raining down.
