Senna and Prost. Those two really couldnt stand each other and you could feel the tension on and off the race track. I wish Michael would have hung around and battled with Alonso for a few more years. Last years champion was so damn exciting until Michael lost his engine.

I would have enjoyed the one between Schumi and Senna, wow, that would have been the best. Too bad we were robbed of it.
Senna and Prost would be my favourite. To me, the rivalry between Alonso and Hamilton is like one between spoilt kids, throwing their toys at each other.

Piquet vs Mansell vs Prost vs Senna in 1987.

I think it was probably one of the best seasons of the last 28 years (how long I've been following F1 on a race-by-race basis).

The Piquet-Mansell years at Williams produced some great races; maybe all the Brits in here remember Mansell's great charges, but as a Nelson fan (a difficult position to hold in mid-80s England...) I remember Nelson's races where he used his head to beat younger drivers who took more risks (Hungary and Italy wins, not to mention his second places to Senna at Monaco and Detroit). He also had a great charge of his own, from last to second in Mexico to almost seal his third title (in those days it was the best come-back from last place ever...a few drivers have won from the back since).
All the Brits will remember Mansell's pass on Nelson on lap 63/65 at Silverstone (even I admit it wasn't too bad).
Then there was Senna, dragging his Lotus up to the lead in the championship for a few races, Prost beating Stewart's all-time wins record, Berger winning Ferrari's first two victories in over two years. And finally the dramatic moment the title was decided, when Mansell pushed too hard and span off in qualifying in Japan, badly damaging his back, ruling himself out of the last two races, and leaving Nelson as champion.

My all-time favourite rivalry was that of Schumacher/Barrichello vs. Hakkinen/Coulthard in 1999-2001. That was the battle that made me in love with the sport, and although only 6 years have passed, I feel that that time is like a distant dream (just look at today's cars and the 2001 cars).
SCHUMACHER WE MISS YOU

I agree with the guy above. Schumi and Rubens vs. DC and Kimi. That was a good Ferrari vs Mclaren battle. Too bad Mclaren didnt have the most reliable cars back then, now the tables have turned and it's ferrari with the dodgy cars.

Senna and Prost was the best. Although Didier Pironi and Gilles Villeneuve was a pretty good soap opera, too, until it got Gilles killed. Hamilton and Alonso are a couple of big babies.

I would have to say Senna and Prost as well. They make Alonso and Hamilton look like a school yard spat.

Michael Schumacher and Damon Hill.
They were both young and agressively trying to establish themselves in F1.
