I just watched a show on the History Channel talking about that. It theorized that it was in a location that is now the Red Sea. They thought that sea level used to be lower, which would have made this region a marsh land type of area. It also matches the description of a place where 3 rivers met. With new satellite imagery they found what looked like a dried river bed that met up where the Tigris and Euphrates join. It was an interesting show.

The Bible mentions Eden as where the headwaters of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers meet, as well as 1 or 2 others. Since there others no longer exist, it's hard to pinpoint, but recent satellite photography has shown the existence of ancient lakebeds in that region. The Tigris and Euphrates meet in Iraq, so it would have been there, if you follow the biblical directions. But archeologists have been to the region, and it is anything but paradise now-it's mostly desert.

Supposed to be at the area in Southern Iraq where the 3 rivers meet. There's a tree there which the locals call "Adam's Tree." However the area is a desert so it's unlikely the Garden of Eden as well as many of the Genesis events ever existed.
