on swatting the dreaded housefly (Musca domestica) I have,
on occasion, noticed a small living creature run away from the corpse. what is it?

It'll just be some form of parasitic bug, that lives off the fly, once the fly is dead it needs to find another host, and flees the corpse, similar to how we get worms, or head lice......

Could be a mite. Just about everything living has some sort of mite on it. In some cases mites have been used as a bioagent to help control certain fly species.

never noticed this before. but then these days i usually chase flies out of my house rather than swat them .. i dont like the squashed corpses on my walls

thats really gross by the way.. i hate flies enough already

Errrr yuk... have never noticed that before - will look out for it the next time some unfortunate fly comes in my kitchen.
