i booked a private 2d scan for 9th oct as doc wont get me scan until 14- 16 weeks. how clear is it and can you see then if its twins or not? anyone had one this early or went private for it?how good was it? i cant wait, it doesnt feel real at the moment!!

You will see the head and body, and the arms and legs moving. You would see if there was more than one.
You can google "ultrasounds 10 weeks", and see what others look like.

You should be able to see if there is more than one..but at that point a bigger twin can shadow/hide a smaller twin. You will be able to make out the basic body parts head, body stumps for legs and arms..that is about it..there really is no need for such an early scan unless it is to check/confirm due date.
You should wait to have a scan between week 18 and 22 so you could check the sex at the same time - and less likely to have a shadowed twin them.

Edit: Oh, and what ever you do, Don't get an internal scan this early! They are sometimes known to give Misscarridges. So just to keep to aware of the risks. This scan was done just using a normal scaning machine. Make Sure you have a full bladder before you go aswell as this really helps.

You will be able to see the baby. They can't tell much at this point, but should be able to tell if there are more than one or if there is an obvious problem. I have had them every week or two from 8 weeks. They change a lot, but the ones later, 16 weeks and on are a lot clearer and you can see more movements and actions and also tell the gender (16-20 weeks).

at 10 weeks I could tell if it was single or twins. I could see an outline and they told me how the heart was doing.
At 12 weeks it was moving around around ALOT more.
I can tell you that you may want to bring a tissue or two. It can really get to you. It is the most amazing thing. Congrats and Good Luck!

i had my second scan done last week and i was 9wk 5 days. i saw the baby but couldn't make out many features. i saw the start on arms and legs and a huge head. the best part was being able to see and hear the baby's heartbeat.
Internal scans don't harm the baby!!!! I've had them done several times, as well as many of my friends.

you will be able to see how many babies you are carrying, at 8 weeks the baby is almost fully developed, you should be able to see a heart beat altho remember things will be very tiny so not very clear but i think you will be shocked at what appears as they really do look like little humans even from an early age

my first ultra sound was at 10 weeks.........the baby looks like a baby not a bean or anything crazy. they measured the baby and it's heart rate ( i could not hear it at this time ).they looked at my organs to make sure all was good too. but as long as the babies are not laying together then they should be able to see two sacks an two babies if there are two.they also estimated my due date from this ultra sound

i had a scan at 10 wks due to problems and my baby looked like a little alien, she had a big haed and her limbs were just developing, it was so fantastic to see her for the 1st time and to be so tiny was unreal. they will more than likely put a probe inside your vagina as your womb will not be raised enough over your pelvic bone to see like on a 20wk ultrasound
