Some people call it Faith others call it Trust. Take your pick. Do you know when you get in an elevator, that it is not going to crash. or into a Plane and not know that it is about to explode? How about when we go to the Super Market and purchase a great cut of steak, do we know if it is really fresh because it has an expiration date on the package? Do we know that when we go to a Bank and change a $50 dollar bill that the money they give us is not counterfeit? The list is endless.

you don't. For that matter, how do _we_ know we are really who we say we are? Some people don't know enough about themselves to even know what they are like or not like.

In the early days of the Internet, the New Yorker, I think, ran a small cartoon. In it, you see a dog looking at a computer. The caption was something to the effect of "On the Internet, nobody knows you're a dog."

Note though that the same is basically true of casual acquaintances in real life. How do you know they are really who they claim to be? Not just the name - but the character , etc.
People can get fake IDs, driver's licenses, steal another's identify in real life just as easily as they can pretend on a web forum.

If there is a situation where more proof is required, then think about how you would establish proof in the real world, and find counterparts in the virtual world.

Because I am an honest person, but I think you know that already. I know what you're saying tho, I had a guy tell me he was the same age as me, sames likes and dislikes, he IMed me and his full name showed up, so I did a google search, yea, old enough to be my dad... I know for sure it was him cause his screen name on this other site where I found him was the exact same as on here. But that site had his age and other stats that did not at all match what he had told me. MEN! lol

Because I do not lie, I do however try to give an informed answer most of the time, although sometimes my sarcastic humor manages to creep in.
However, you do not know who I am, for the name I use in yahoo is my screen name. If you want to know who I am, you'd have to ask, and be specific.

You don´t. I could tell you I´m a 179 cm tall natural blonde working as a model... OK, you probably wouldn´t believe that, lol. But anyway, you can´t trust anything we say here unless you know us from before.

Because I said so and that should be enough for you as it's my word. And as a man all that I have is my word and something else that I can't mention without receiving a violation notice.

I am who I say I am, I have no reason to lie. I don't see any purpose or gain from it & I don't understand why anyone would do it.
