Well most would be working in the house at what they could, some would be taking care of the children and cleaning. there was a book i read before that an ex slave wrote about her life in Jamaica. where when she was about eight she would be doing most of the cleaning getting water from the well. up at five in the morning and to sleep on the floor under the stairs at about midnight. this was what her life was like from the time she was four till she was ten then she was sold to another family. boys would have had it just as bad. if i remember right she was then sold to a man who used slaves for collecting salt. and would be up to her knees in the sea. finally raised enough money to buy her freedom but was not allowed. she married a freed slave against her masters wishes and for punishment he brought her to England where she escaped and was taken in by some group. been able to write she wrote a book but with the cold in Britain the damage done to her from the hard work she died real young.

Slave children were put to work between the ages of six to ten years of age. Four year olds probably would have been kept in some kind of a nursery.

The same as the adults. If they were slaves, or their parents were slaves, they still had to work... probably not doing all the tough work that the adults did but theres plenty of cleaning etc. they were kept busy with.

Play around. Learn with their parents and nurseries.
As their body and mind started to become more develped, their lives started to be defined accordingly.
Recent studies tell that children in XIX century wasn't like Charles Dickens descriptions. They were happy working.
If they were happy working as a modern slaves (capitalism is worse) you can immagine their life in ancient rome, colonial period or even in Africa in middle XII century.

One game they played that my Grandmother told me was jacks, but they played it with little pebbled stones and that's how the game of jacks originated.
