I have talked to my internet sevice provider and he says that it is not the correct address. The numbers are way off. So I was wondering if there is a way that I can find the real IP address or if someone changed it, cause I believe that I have been infected with spyware, thanks to Limewire. Can anyone help?

If you need the IP for your INTERNET then you need the IP off the ROUTER / MODEM, NOT of the PC.

The PC will suually have a"local IP" in the 192.168.x.x range (can be different with some routers, mine is on 10.0.x.x)

U need to find the IP address of your router, usually will be same 1st 3 sets of digits, and .0 or .1 on the end, and browse to this address in IE.

Then read the screen, and local the config pages.

Hmm, nice to see MCSE doesn't really mean they understand the issue . .

If you think you are infected try this:

Normally your malware programs will delete these gremlins.

Some toolbar add-ons can be removed from Internet Explorer by opening IE > Tools > Internet Options – open the Programs Tab – at the bottom right click on the button ‘Manage add-ons’. Highlight the offending add-on and either delete or disable and click OK.

You should be aware that a lot of viruses, spyware & adware sit in RAM, the registry and System Restore and because of System Restore will return even after deleting or re-booting. Removing can be a little time consuming but thankfully not impossible. Yes there are many web sites offering solutions for the removal of different gremlins but try this first.

Turn off System Restore. This can be achieved by going to ‘Start’ > ‘My Computer’ > ‘Properties’ > Open the ‘System Restore’ tab then enable “Turn off system restore on all drives” > click apply > click ok.

It is now best to re-boot your computer in Safe Mode – (achieved by pressing F8 continually during boot up) this will prevent the majority of malware from kicking off at this time.

You should now run your anti virus and anti spyware and anti adware software and delete or quarantine any viruses or spies found.

Re-boot your computer in normal mode and complete another virus check. If your system is now reported as being clean - don’t forget to turn on System Restore.

go to http://www.getip.com
there you fing your true IP
you can also fing your IP through Softwares for that go to http://www.download.com and find with the word "IP".
you may find software.
I don't think it's an virus or Spyware.
If you are using router your local ip will be like "192.168.1.X"
but this is not your true IP.
