If Iranian officials said they would retaliate if ANY country attacked them, not just Israel, wouldn't that be expected? What is so news-worthy about the "event" of what the Iranian general said when you know any U.S. general would have said the same exact thing? The U.S. would "retaliate" if Israel attacked the U.S.! Doesn't the public realize on a grand scale how poorly this kind of propaganda is being disguised as news? The next thing you'll be hearing about is another "pre-emptive" strike by a "U.S. led" coalition because the general of Iran suggested they've got a plan to bomb Israel! No doubt the pentagon already had the plan to bomb Iran when Iran claimed to have a plan to bomb Israel if Israel attacked Iran.

Need more evidence of the underhanded techniques of propaganda? How about more title-switching hyperbole on Yahoo: First it's "Iran draws up plan to bomb Israel if attacked" on their home page, then you go to the article and the title reads "Iranian: Retaliation if Israel attacks." Total propaganda.

They'll shout you down on this.

It's simple really. US media is completely controlled by the mega-corps that actually run our country. They're about oil, and military industry... and it's their war. That's why they are hyping the ridiculous simpson case as well, to build a major predictable distraction right now when there's so much criticism of Bush's war in the air.

Like I say, most Americans have not accepted the plain fact that the corporate state has such complete control of our lives.

In time, they'll get it. Eventually we'll be a bit like a pseudo-capitalist version of Russia, and the people will get that they are being propagandized day after day... right now it's still too hard to accept.

Dont' blame Americans. Blame the reporter who was too lazy to follow the first rule of good reporting: "If your mother says she loves you, check it out!".
The general's threat was probably contained in a press release from someone in the government of Iran, without an actual interview of the person being quoted having taken place.

I guess it's a point of view issue, the media looks pretty Anti- War / Anti-President Bush to me. Then again, I support President Bush and the war in Iraq.

The military have to maintain a climate of fear in order to get the latest weapons. And the armaments industry have to do the same to get business and maximize their profits. Why do you find it unreasonable?
