It is dell computer and printer, called the photo 924. I just ordered this new black cartridge from dell, and it printed once, then it started saying unsupported cartridge, install a correct print cartridge.

Lift the cartridge out, check the contact pads are not inked up, clean as required.

The cartridge or printer may be faulty, if you still have an old black cartridge, try it even if it is empty, to see if you get the same error. You may need to contact Dell and go through their diags. If the printer is faulty & in warranty you get a swap out machine. Remove your cartridges the new printer will be empty. When it is out of warranty, you can now get cheaper refills from the web.

3 possibilities in order of likelyhood :
1: You were sold the WRONG cartridge.
2: The cartridge was incorrectly chipped at cactory (seen this happen on some laser toner carts)
3: The printer has a hardware fault.

Double check packaging on cartridge said it is FOR YOUR printer. If not call Dell and complain
If so, Call dell for help, it's either their ink or printer got a problem

It may be that the cartridge isn't correctly installed. Make sure the cartridge is securely installed in it's stall and the clip is snapped into place.

1. Try removing the cartridge
2. Placing it back in securely, and
3. Locking the clip to hold it in place.
