My favourite is The Ocarina of Time. I love the Water and Spirit temples!

I'm so obsessed with those games... Shigeru is God!

Also, despite the childish animation, the endless hours of sailing and the simplicity of the bosses... I still thought Wind Waker was pretty good. Did anyone else?

My favourite is Majora's Mask. It has a very deep story and it doesn't matter how many times you play it, there are still a lot of things not explained entirely (the kids on the moon that look like the mask salesman ask some REALLY deep questions). It was the first Zelda game I played till the very end. Also, I don't hate any of the temples or dungeons in it and the Skull Kid is cool when he wears Majora's mask. Also, the fact that you can turn into a Deku, Goron and Zora adds a lot to the game, I think it was the best idea ever!
My second favourite would be Twilight Princess. Midna is the best companion ever, bossing you around and she looks so cool. The game is very realistic and the story is also very dark (like Majora's mask). I was very surprised when I found that the first song you howl is the Song of Healing from Majora's. I kind of missed the ocarina but I really don't like the City in the Sky temple with the ooca, it's boring, but the boss is cool. Ganondorf is the coolest here! But I prefer the Game Cube version, since Link is right-handed in the Wii. For me it broke a tradition. I liked the lefty Link, it is one of the few games that don't feel funny to watch (I'm lefty too!)
My third favourites would be Wind Waker and Minish Cap. They are very funny. Wind Waker's Ganondorf is the second coolest, I loved the kimono, and the animations are great, Link is very expressive in this game. And Vaati from Minish has a really funny laugh, plus, this game is for Game Boy Advance, so I can take it anywhere I like. I like Minish Cap better, sometimes in Wind Waker I just want to throw Makar away :P
My fourth would be Ocarina. It's very good, but Majora's is way better. Navi is way too bossy and explains the simplest things, Tatl (the fairy in Majora's) is a lot better. I absolutely hate the Shadow Temple, sometimes I don't play it to the end because of this temple.
I've played other Zelda games, Link's Awakening (up to the Chomp dog temple) and the second Zelda (I only played against the shadow Link), but I only played a bit, they were VERY boring to me. I think that ever since Ocarina they are getting to be the best games ever!

Ocarina of Time, without a shadow of a doubt, although I'll have to disagree about the water temple, because that that really hacked me off with constantly having to put on the iron boots. Ocarina of time was actually the sole reason I bought an N64 (which were expensive back then!)

As to why, just the fact that the combat is relatively easy, the puzzles have just the right amount of challenge and you can roam free throughout Link's world. Which pretty much sums up all Zelda games IMHO.

I'm currently working my way through Twilight princess and it looks like it may top OoT if it get's any better!

By the way, has anyone noticed that in every previous Zelda game Link has been left handed (which was part of his appeal) but in Twilight Princess, he's suddenly become right handed?

Ocarina of Time! I'm sorry, but that game represents everything that is beautiful - I love it, and without it the world would end. I was once brought almost to tears by the thought of an era when there will be a generation of people not brought up on this game.
It must be preserved as a wonder of our time for future generations to look upon in wonder.

Though the Wind Waker is pretty good.

Bye!

#6: Majora's Mask, and the second game tie here.

#5: original Zelda

#4: Wind Waker. I'm sorry, but the animation is half of why the game was fun.

#3: Ocarina. The graphics are outright primative by today's standards, as are the controls....but it was still a fun game.

#2: Link to the Past. To this day, I can pick this thing up at any point of the day and buzzsaw through its well-trodden paths. This game is like a good, old friend to me.

and #1: Twilight Princess. Yarr, sweet monkey JESUS on toast, this game is gorgeous. The Wii controls are fun, and Ganon's almost as bad *** as he was in Wind Waker. (sorry, but nothing beats the daisho and flaming kimono)

The only time I've ever played Zelda was about 8 years ago and it was on the N64... oh those were the days!

I played The Ocarina of Time and I totally agree that it was a brilliant game!

Although I used to get scared about going over the field at night because of all those things that come out of the ground!!

And I love Link! He is just so cute! Hehe. Everyone loves Link - System of a Down even recorded a song about him!!

Ocarina of Time is number one without question. It revolutionized the way people see these types of games, not to mention it was just awesome. That Water temple really got on my nerves, though. I was hearing Zelda's lullaby in my sleep after my first playthrough of that place.

If you haven't played Twilight Princess yet, it's definitely number two. Great graphics, great gameplay, decent story, it really has it all.

Link to the Past is number three. I actually just played that game for the 10000th time a week ago, so it's fresh in my mind about how awesome it was.

Don't forget about poor forgotten Link's Awakening, either. That game never got the love it deserved.

In mention of marvin_martian's final comment (scroll way down), Link is left handed even in the Gamecube Twilight Princess. They switched the Wii version to make him right handed since most people playing would be right handed; therefore the entire game is completely flipped left to right depending on which one you play. It's weird trying to play one then the other.

I have to agree, Ocarina of Time is not only my favorite LoZ game, but it's my fave game of all time. Remember how revolutionary it was at the time it was released? The graphics were amazing for back then.

LoZ - A Link to the Past would be my 2nd favorite, and The Wind Waker would be 3rd.
