What must you file with IRS to shut down a small business?

Started a home business, but was unable to acquire license/rights to sell targeted product. Filed for and obtained EIN and Company name. What must I file with the IRS to let them know that the company is defunct? There was absolutely no revenue earned by the business before shutting down.

You need to call your local IRS office, they're in the phone book. You may also need to go 'inactive' with your business license with the state, so should call your department of Revenue also.
