Stephen King books are great but none I read ever really scared me. What do you mean by lamest book do you mean boring? Well I think that would be the one that Says how to Write 10 Books a day.. at the end of the book Stephen King said He didn't say anything about finishing 10 books a day

I'm with Lindsayk (sp?) on "The Boogeyman." It scared me so bad as a kid reading Stephen King for the first time that I won't read it as an adult.

Scariest book? I'd say images from The Shining and Christine come back to haunt me most often. I'll "see" Jack freezing to death in the maze or Arnie riding in Christine, ranting to Dennis while Dennis sees dead people in the back seat.

Lamest? Honestly? I haven't enjoyed an SK book since Dolores Claiborne. I'll always read SK for sentimental reasons, but I just don't like the direction he took with his writing. He used to really scare the bejesus out of me. Now, I'm just hohum.

I think the scariest is The Shining, although some of the short stories are a bit nerve-wracking, such as The Boogeyman (maybe not for everyone, but it had me closing my wardrobe doors properly for years!). I think the lamest is the Tommyknockers - I thought the eventual outcome was a bit of a joke. Having said that, I'm not a fan of the Dark Tower series - they're a but too sci-fi for me, personally. Good question - star for you!

The scariest is the Shining.

As for the lamest...well, as much as I was extremely disappointed with the last Dark Tower, I'd say that Dolores Clairborne was the one that interested me the least and I have no plans on reading it again.

Scariest? Well so far it would be Desperation for me but I was 12 when I read it so I was scared a bit easier than I am now. The short story 1408 gave me the creeps.

Lame? I haven't read any of his books that I thought were lame.

I have not read any lame Stephen King books yet. Haven't read any scary ones either. I don't know why, but books don't give me the creeps. I've read The Stand, Desperation, Regulators, am working on the D.T. series, and Misery. They're all really cool, but I don't think any of them are scary.

The scariest Stephan King book is The Stand, because it is very realistic. Plus, how many people do you know that got sick while reading the book? How is that for subliminals?

The stupidist book is Pet Cemetary.

Looks like there are many opinions here. That's a good thing ...

Scariest: Pet Sematery
Lamest: Dark Tower (the first one was so boring I didn't bother with the others)
My favorite: The Stand Complete & Uncut

txpyxie: I disagree with you about Pet Sematery, but thumbs-up to you anyway. :-) I agree that The Stand is plenty scary - but for me, it wasn't THE scariest.
