All parties want less government involved. It's the platform of the Libertarian party, the Republican party prides itself on wanting a smaller government, and the Democratic party does not want the government to have control over individual choices. With all of that being said, what are your issues with other parties? Everyone is after the same goal, but with different ideas as to how to solve them. Please be respectful of others, and only answer the question and not go on a rant. Thank you.

Not all Democrats are in favor of forcing people to have health insurance. Please do not generalize the party with one candidate. There are many more who are against her plan than are for it.

I respect your opinions about the Democratic party, but completley disagree with what you are saying. But thank you for your opinion.

Let me try this...I believe that the Republican party only has interests in big corporations, and hide their wants of controlling the American population behind a platform that states less government. Now, that's what I feel and that is my take on what that party stands for. You will think differently because you belong to that party. My point is if we all want peace, prosperity, and a secure homeland, why bother with all the mudslinging. Everyone wants the same thing, but are too busy bashing eachother to accomplish it. Do you agree with that?

You are 100% correct Lisa, we all basically want the same thing. The problem is "politics". The polarization of the two main parties, have made it seem like we are worlds apart when in all actuality, we are not

Our political system is killing this great nation. We all need to start looking at the candidates as individuals – not a party.

There is still time to heal our country and I believe that we all agree that Thomas Jefferson had it right "government is best which governs least". In the first 125 years of our country we experienced a rate of new prosperity unmatched in human history. We can do it again.

We the people still have enough power to swing elections. We must swing ALL elections. I think we do agree on most of the truly important issues. We have countless credible studies that show more than 2/3 of Americans not only think government if to big and to intrusive, they think it is WAY too big and to intrusive. Citizens on average are paying over 47% in taxes and we have many credible studies to show that more than 2/3 of citizens feel this is way too much and that something closer to 10% would be appropriate.

If we the people were given the chance we would dramatically reduce the size and influence of the government, and we would all benefit wildly from this.

Why then does government continue to grow at rates well beyond the growth of GNP? Follow the money. There are exactly 2 groups of people that benefit from this. Politicians and Lobbyists.

I implore everyone reading this to vote much more carefully. Do not vote for the lesser of evils as evil is all you will get. Vote only for someone who will truly represent you and do not re-elect them unless they are an absolute super-star (and i only know of one or two of these in the entire federal government). Do not vote for them because of party, if you do not have the data on their record, do not vote.

With that said, I support the general effort of:

the Republican Liberty Caucus http://www.republicanliberty.org/libdex/libergraph.htm
the Libertarian Party www.lp.org
the spirit of Mike Gravel http://www.gravel2008.us

We can create a titlewave of discontent that will wash the system clean, but we need everyone reading this to help, and get everyone you know to help.

It's actually a very good question. But would pro-life or pro-choice not be considered an individual choice? Stem cell research, wouldn't that fall under an individual choice. You can't say that just Democrats want control over individual choices after something like The Patriot Act evolves. And if you want people to be respectful with their answers, then perhaps you shouldn't try to slide in a caddy crack in your question. Respectfully, of course.

Health insurance should be a right of all people in society equally. Not just for the rich. I cannot afford health insurance and for many years did not have it and only have it now because my parents pay for it out of residuals from some old life insurance policy my father took out on me when I was a kid. The whole health industry From doctors to hospitals to pharmaceutical company's to drug stores is far out of whack and out of reach for people below a certain income. The only way to fix this is to make it equal across the board to all citizens,,, Period,,,No argument,,,That is the way it is, that's what the people want, and that is what will happen.. Get used to it..Power to the People

Where did you get the bizarre idea that the Democrats don't want the government to have control over individual choices? That's what they live for.

Edit--disagree all you want, I think you can see where the majority of answers stand.

While I agree with you on the Rep and Libertarian points, I don't agree that the Dems want smaller government or less control over choices. I believe they are the party of "I know better than you so I'll decide". I believe that if a Dem wins the election the governments umbrella of control will be broadened.
