Yes sure, go to www.download.com, write Word recovery, and see the results, I used one of them once and it solved my problem, but unforutnately I can't remeber the name, and don't believe the one that says System Restore, because all it can do is restore setting and softwares, not documents??!

If you have autorecovery on you might have luck - sometimes.
In Word:
Tools
Options
Save
click in the box to set autorecovery for the amount of time you want - I have mine set to 15 minutes.
Most of the time when this occurs to me, I get a message that the system was able to recover the file and do I want it restored.

You can also set Word to create automatic backups of your files. This way, if you lose a file, you can open the backup and save it to a new name (you cannot edit it).

These are the only two ways I have found so far to recover corrupted files.

However, occasionally, and I don't know why, I am working along and get the "Microsoft detected an error and has to shut down" yada yada. With autorecovery set to on, and automatic backups selected in Word, I still lost 2 hours of work just yesterday.

This link will give you a list of suggested solutions. I think we both may find an answer here. I'm on my way to work and cannot read it now. Good luck.

If they are still on your system, you can do a system restore.
