Israel has been criticised by the UN for making a number of overflights in Lebanon in recent weeks.

Do they always have to violate? Can't they be peaceful for once? It would be a nice change.

Israel is never held to account for its slaughter of innocents and the fact that they invaded Lebanon airspace will be met with the same acceptance. Israel has a free pass and will continue to use it whenever and however it pleases; the rest of the world does not matter in the slightest and that includes any U.S resolutions.

Israel does no longer practice apartheid. each Israeli citizen has finished and equivalent rights under Israeli regulation, and there are Christian and Islamic individuals of the Knesset. As for the UN, Israel grow to be formally a racist state from 1975-ninety one, whilst a Nazi conflict criminal grow to be Sec Gen. Anti-Semitism (ie Jew-hatred) is the only variety of ethnic hatred the UN would not condemn. The UN condemns Israel on a everyday foundation, yet says no longer something approximately Sudan, Rwanda, China, Lybia, Cuba, Syria, Saudi--a number of which take a seat on the UN Human Rights Committee. (How's that for irony?) Oh, and it took the UN 60 years to renowned the Holocaust. i wouldn't in any respect use the UN as a respected source for something.

If in fact Israel is "violating" UN resolutions then maybe you ought to think of the reasons why. What exactly has the UN done about non stop missile attacks on Israel? Has the UN stopped any of the violence induced by the countries surrounding Israel? You see if Israel is "violating" any resolutions then it seems to be for good cause. I think Israel has every right to do fly overs of Lebanon along with any other country that does not put an end to attacks against them. So according to you and your news or whatever..maybe they are. But until the UN steps up or other governments in that area of the world then it looks like Israel will have to protect themselves. You should try and view things from both sides...not just the one. Makes perfect sense to me why Israel is doing what they are doing.

The Israeli government believes that it is not beholden to any resolution or doctrine established by international consensus. They think that they can carry out their operations regardless of the concerns of the UN or even their American backers, all in the name of the War on Terror (tm).

Then again, UN resolutions mean little when they lack any actual teeth. In other words, they are not really enforcable unless there are serious punitive measures behind them. Until that happens (or until the US gov't threatens to cut off military aid), Israel will continue to play by its own rules, and eventually break those same rules as well.

Have they been flying over Lebanon, PA or Lebanon, MO?

Having been to Lebanon, MO, I would say it MUST be in Pennsylvania.
The reason: Israelis hate the Amish. It seems every Christmas, non-kosher Lebanon bologna slips across the Israeli borders, undetected.

This bothers the Likuud tremendously, but, until the UN can restrain UPS, there is little anyone can do.

Did they drop bombs, it sounds like a no. Are they trying to see that no weapons are being built up in Lebanon as a repeat of last years war in that area where Israel was attacked. Do they have the right to secure their own borders by way of viewing what is being built up on the other side, I think so.

Because Israel knows that UN resolutions have no teeth.

No idea whether they are or not, nor do I care, but when you consider the UN's track record for voting on resolution after resolution and never doing a thing, why wouldn't they. The UN is the most worthless group of morons on the planet.

Ugh! I actually didnt hear about that, but isnt it funny how the UN never really condemned Saddams years of viloating their resolutions, and then condemns GWBush for trying to enforce them? The UN is totally useless and irrelevant. Who really care anymore?

Because Israel plays by their own rules. Just remember, whatever Israel does, it's the Muslims fault and they were provoked, just like when they bombed the US Liberty and strafed the life boats.
